he just woke up, so have to type fast before he stops playing here at the ottoman... my baby's pulled out my tribally earrings i wear on a daily basis that i took out the bottom pair... have had the piercings since I was 4, so don't close. the top two piercings I've had since 8th grande, but they still close up shortly after taking earrings out. so has anyone had luck with tribal earrings and babies? am very aware of lead content, so only wear sterling silver right now.

No luck here, but I had two babies grabbing. My ears have completely closed over at this point, it's been so long since I wore earrings (my boys are 3 now). I need to get them re-pierced.

Sorry to be a downer :( My boys were still pulling jewelry off me when they were 2 (they broke a necklace, yanking it simultaneously).

I never had too much trouble, but I don't have any REAL tribal earings. I personally stuck/stick to cheap claire's hoops and things that won't hurt if they get pulled out, but I don't know about the lead content in ones like that. Maybe stick to really small, non-grabbable earings for the upper holes that tend to close?

I've been really lucky so far. My 13 month old likes to touch, but not grab, so I've continued to wear my enormous earrings daily. He does forcefully move my head from side to side to make sure my earrings match, though :)

well, I'm not a mom yet, but I was thinking about this very same problem. I'm guessing that my earrings are going to be rather irresistable to little fingers someday, and I'm not looking forward to the yanking. I'm hoping that putting in some plastic, glass or wood plugs might be small enough to keep little fingers from being entangled in hoops or loops, and keep my holes the gauge that I want them to be for daily wear, anyway.

Situational Awareness. You've got to keep them cute little hands in sight! Easier to say than do, I know. But try really small posts or hoops. Teach from the beginning to not yank on mommy. Saying Oww!! really loud can startle them, toddlers understand pretend-crying when something they do hurts you. Worked when my daughter would bite when nursing...

heh. I'd already tried all that. He's _fast_ . It's much better now, but occasionally I do have to "unwork" his fingers. only once in a great while does one actually come out anymore. the bottom piercings I use some Wylie's Wild Wire spirals and they only come out in the shower now. but that's not a big deal. I was really just wondering if people had had any luck with tribal earrings and I guess when it comes to "actual" tribal earrings, the answer would be no. ah, well.

My boys find pretend crying funny. They'll even encourage me to do it. One will hit me and the other signs "cry" to me while grinning, then they both crack up when I pretend to cry.

I think the situational awareness concept would probably work great for a singleton, give it a shot! I've got two, and they work as a team *sobs*
