Re: Questions about pregnancy and bellydance
Mon, August 4, 2008 - 6:01 AMI would love to more more about how excercise / certain movements effect certain outcomes w/ pregnancy.... such as possibly loosening yoru pelvis or widening your pelvis to help birth be as easy as possible.....
what movements / excercises are going to encourage your baby to be in the 'proper' birthing position
what breathing, meditation / excercises are going to help you during the birthing process itself....
I already have some answers to these questions, but I have also found that most excercise and pregnancy books are really geared just toward getting people moving I have only found 1 excellent yoga video dedicated to pregnant mothers and it does a Great job answering some of these questions.....
Good Luck!

Re: Questions about pregnancy and bellydance
Thu, August 14, 2008 - 6:29 AMi danced for 3 years, then stopped classes for about 9 months, doing very little at home. now i am wanting to go back to dancing - at 15 weeks pregnant. i'd like to know if it would still be safe or if dance would be considered a "new activity" they warn about. -

Re: Questions about pregnancy and bellydance
Mon, December 8, 2008 - 9:46 PMShawna.... I bet if you keep it light and listen to your body you would probably be o.k..... Simply just bellydance for the fun of it and keep it light no crazy ridiculous drills or back bends of course (unless your bod can handle them;)

Re: Questions about pregnancy and bellydance
Thu, August 14, 2008 - 9:36 AMGreat idea.....when I was pregnant, I had a hard time finding the info I wanted. Here are my questions!
Which movements are beneficial for pregnancy, and what are the benefits?
Which movements should be avoided, and at which point during your pregnancy should you stop that type of movement?
Which movements are recommended for labor, and when/why do you use them?
What are some alternative warm-ups and modified stretching for preparing to dance?
