I am curious (and no I am not pregnant) how many of you dancers recieved support from your midwife to carry on bellydancing when pregnant and how many were totally discouraged?
Put in subject line either.
Supported or not supported and in the message box i would like to know what the birth outcome was (eg normal vaginal delivery, c/secion, instrumental)
Thanks

  • wholeheartedly supported

My ob loved that I continued to dance until the beginning of my third trimester when I started having lots of Braxton Hicks contractions and my boy was positioned very low. At that point my ob was worried that I'd send myself into early labor so I was told to tone it down to just slow stuff and stretches.

My boy was delivered normal vaginal but was in an anterior (facing the ceiling) position, I had LOTS of back labor.

I had plenty of support from the midwives- but then, I am also a prenatal fitness trainor, so they trust me anyway!

back labor doesn't actually get worse with anterior presentation- another myth that can't be backed up by science (anecdotally, my anterior babe came in less than an hour & my 'normal' babe gave me awful back labor)
