Cup Size Fluctuation and Breastfeeding/Weaning

Hi there hot mamas :)

I had a question about cup size fluctuation and weaning.

I went from a D cup to a DD cup with my second child.

So some of my "smaller D" costumes no longer fit, I can get into some of the full D costumes, they're just very "boobalicious", and the DD costumes fit perfectly.

My question is - based on your personal experiences, when I wean the baby eventually, are "the girls" going to go back to D, or am I going to stay a DD?

With my first child I didn't really notice much of a change, for some reason. I pretty much stayed a D cup the whole time with her, and after we weaned.

I was just curious what your experiences were. I don't have any firm plans to wean him anytime soon, but I am guessing with him being 16 months almost, that it will happen gradually and naturally over the next year.

  • Hi,

I was a D before my first child. After her I was a small DD and some D things I could get into. I went to a LARGE DD with my second child. After weaning him I have come down to a smaller DD again. Also after weaning they just don't feel as large and full. May girls can fluctuate alot with my weight so if I could lose the last 8 lbs and be the weight I was before my first child they will probably go back down to a D. But they will never be shaped like they were before my kids. ;-)
    • first baby after nursing her ended up a cup size and after the 2nd baby I went up another cup size again. it seems the bigger you are and dont like the bigger you get! and my friend who started off with a little b cup ended up a AA cup after nursing, SODS law I say! I am curious what other have found.
      • i was a c cup pre-baby #1. d cup during pregnancy. e cup while nursing. went to a small c cup. now i'm nursing baby #2, and i'm in that space between c and d. my d bras are too big, and my c's are too tight. i have a sinking feeling i will have shrunk after this is over. and i will be disproportionate.....
    • Thanks to everyone who has replied so far! Looks like everyone has had slighly different experiences.

Vega, I think your experience has matched mine the most so far. So I am thinking that I might go down to a small DD after this too.

And yes, they definitely don't look or feel like they did before kids, but thank goodness for those awesome supportive oriental bras with their wire construction - otherwise, mine would be drooping down to my belly button LOL

      :-D
  • Oh, my. I went from a DD pre preg, to a F preggers, to an H while nursing, D while weaning and (miracle of miracles) the ladies have filled back out to a not quite so saggy DD now that we're a good 6 months past weaning (LG weaned at about 28 months)
But of course, we ordered troupe costumes when I was shrinking down to a G, so... no way to take that baby in & I feel a bit odd with an entire cup of rice in a baggy to stuff my bra. grrr. SO thankful for the spandex dresses I did most of my personal costuming in!
  • Mine went from small B to happy C with occasional uncomfortable excursions into D territory... stayed pretty much there during the "slow down" (when my oldest was down to one nurse a day, before the second came along... there was no actual non-breastfeeding period between the two). Within a few months of the youngest weaning, though, they were back to B. I miss the C-cup, but I'm lucky enough that the shape hasn't changed much (if anything they're less pointy than before, which is nice)... definitely not as firm as they used to be, though.
  • Pre-pregnancy I was a small A, while breastfeeding my breasts grew to C/D to my surprise (I'm still wondering about all thos B-size nursing bras I saw in the shops ...), and now, afterwards, I'm wearing B. And yes, mine, too, are less firm than they used to be, so I guess my entirely bra-less days are definitely over.
  • A little post-script to this:

As fate would have it, shortly after posting this I was diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Lyme disease (both tick-borne diseases), and I had to be put on an antibiotic incompatible with breastfeeding, so that meant the baby had to be instantly weaned.

Thank goodness he was already 17 months old, so even though he was upset with me for the sudden cold-turkey, his health wasn't affected.
