Anyone out there dance after a 2nd c? I had one with my son (now 3), and it took about 2 years before I really felt that I had my lower abs back under control. Anyone have a better/worse recovery the second time around?

Re: Recovering from a second c-section
Thu, July 10, 2008 - 7:10 PMI am so scared about having my first c-section , My doctor doesnt want to take the trouble with a natural birth so he is just going for the c-section...
I am so scared I really want to try natural birth but here in Mexico for a lot of doctors is easier to make c-sections than to go through all the trouble of chilbirth :S.... -

Re: Recovering from a second c-section
Thu, July 10, 2008 - 8:46 PMAlesa, I'm sorry to read that your doc isn't in favour of natural birth. Take a look at this link and get in touch with joni. She might put you in touch with someone who can help you. It's worth the hassle. -

Re: Recovering from a second c-section
Thu, July 10, 2008 - 9:25 PMI have had 1 c-section and have been good fairly quickly afterward. Alesa, I am so sorry that you are not even getting the option of a natural birth. Not the route for me, however, I think if it's what you want your birthing experience to be then it is important that you should have that option. -

Re: Recovering from a second c-section
Thu, July 17, 2008 - 10:01 AMI wish that I could have gone natural too!!! I looked at my sisters and friends having there babies vaginally within weeks/months of my c-section, & in the hospital they were doing their makeup & hair right after delivery........taking no pain killers, etc. & back to be fairly normal, in exercise and everything, within weeks.
It made me sooo jealous I would just cry and cry. I couldn't even do a crunch until 12 weeks & my abs were like jelly!!! Finally, after 5.5 months & a lot of exercise, vegan & raw eating.... I've had a lot of weight loss & am just starting to feel some strength come back. As for my lower abs however........they just hang there...no matter what I do! I'm sooo frustrated because they are covered in HUGE stretch marks too.
I'm glad you posted this becasue I am way scared for number two. We are planning to get pregnant again Oct. '09...........
I plan to do my pregnancy a lot different though.....eat EXTREMEMLY healthy instead of constantly bindging on what feels good... NO MATTER HOW SICK I FEEL, keep up my exercise routine NO MATTER HOW MUCH PAIN I'M IN.........& hopefully, I'll have a better recovery!!!
Because this is very challenging as a dancer; however, I wouldn't trade my son for anything...NOT even a flawless body!!!
I've been coming up with creative ways to cover my belly and still feel sexy & still be able to see my movements!!! ....And oh well about belly rolls I guess!!!! Until they meet me again..........I'm Ok 8))))
...Anyways, I feel soooo much more womanly since I've been a mom, confident & powerful!!! I know I can handle whatever comes now!!! And I think we all rock for HAVING/DOING IT ALL!!!!!!!
Afterall, stretch marks, c-sections scars, loose bellies and alll.......................what can be possibly MORE FEMININE than being a mommy 8)))) ???????????????

Re: Recovering from a second c-section
Tue, July 29, 2008 - 11:32 PMAlesa, c-sections are major surgery, and if your doctor doesn't want to be "bothered" with a natural birth you need a new doctor!
There is no reason to have a cesarean unless there is an emergency! They cut open your stomach, muscles, and uterus, as sometimes your bowels if they are in the way. Recovery takes months sometimes.
I really want to encourage you to look at all of your options! Do some research.
We are women, and we have been giving birth since the dawn of time, we are made to bear children. Natural is always best. -

Re: Recovering from a second c-section
Thu, July 31, 2008 - 9:17 AMNatural ISN'T always best. Please be careful with your generalizations. In both of my births my children would have died if it were not for my c-sections. Sure, I'd have had easier recoveries, but the goal is healthy baby and healthy mommy, however the birth comes about. -

Re: Recovering from a second c-section
Thu, July 31, 2008 - 7:07 PMI said it isnt necessary "UNLESS THERE IS AN EMERGENCY"

Re: Recovering from a second c-section
Fri, August 8, 2008 - 1:58 PMArani makes an important point. Even it there's a small risk, c-section is the way to go. There is nothing more terrifying than your baby's heart rate plumeting during labor. Definitely get a second opinion, though. I hated the recovery from my two c-sections but I have two healthy children that are the loves of my life.

Re: Recovering from a second c-section
Sat, August 2, 2008 - 8:10 PMAlesa... i say it is up to you, your hubby to decide what situation is best for the two of you to add a new member to your family in... Honestly if I felt like my doctor was not willing to listen to me I'd find a new doctor... Remember you are the one paying him / her, they need to take your sincere considerations about child birth into account..... How many times do we get to welcome new babies into the world?
