So, I've always have really nice clear skin with the occasional zit right before my period. Now that I'm pregnant I'm breaking out like crazy. My fiancé and I started planning our wedding and then found out I was prego the next month and now I am a week and a half away from our wedding and I’m still breaking out! I’m still dancing and I’m sure the sweat on the face doesn’t help, but I come home and wash my face immediately. I’ve switched to a non-comedogenic moisturizer and I am still getting new zits. It’s driving me crazy!! I’m not in my second trimester and I was really hoping for some relief, but none yet. What products did you guys use that had this problem during pregnancy. I already use bare minerals make up, but any suggestions would be welcome!!

Re: Developing acne because of pregnancy
Sun, September 9, 2007 - 7:23 PMI had a lot of acne with the pregnancy of my eldest daughter. the best advice I got was (as stated earlier) WATER WATER ADN MORE WATER - which helps with much more than just acne. I also tried to keep a really "clean" system, not only for my skin but for my pregnancy in general: no sugar, caffeine, dairy, heavy foods, etc. So... I still had icky skin but I had a beautiful daughter! Good luck. Oh- I also used a red clay mask with chamomile and lavender in it. Just pure dry red clay and dried lavender and chamomile flowers in it. add a little water when ready to apply. steam face a little first and then apply. let stand no more than 20 min. and rinse. Repeat weekly. If nothing else, it forced me to relax and take some time for myself once a week. :) -

Re: Developing acne because of pregnancy
Sun, September 9, 2007 - 7:26 PMOoooo! just realized you are in Tucson... Get yourself over to The Aroma Tree on the South West corner of Broadway and Country Club - in the Jostler complex (SW corner of the complex - parking in back). I am a Tucson native (my first born was born at home in the neighborhood right behind that complex!) and my red clay mask came/comes from there. They also have lots of yummy goodies that they make for mamas and they can custom blend things too. -

Re: Developing acne because of pregnancy
Tue, September 11, 2007 - 8:56 AMThanks!! I had gotten thie really great mask from Lush when we went up to Phoenix that helped.....but since their masks are make mostly from food products they're only good for 3-4 weeks. I'll make a trip over to The Aroma Tree....it'sa lot closer than Phoenix!! -

Re: Developing acne because of pregnancy
Wed, September 26, 2007 - 2:32 PMI had super porcelain skin even as a teenager...and about one month into pregnancy, all around my mouth, chin and nose got really red and dry & then boom acne like crazy!!!!
No make-up in the world could cover it, not even Make-up Forever...my professional kit...& I've always only drank water anyway. I broke down after a few months of it & my fiance lovingly got me ProActiv. It helped, but my skin would actually peel off...like a skin peel treatment or something. The Dr. said it was fine... I only used it sparingly.
Well, it helped enough I think!!! It still sucked though...it was still red and peeling! I only had to use it for a few weeks before it went away on its own. Now, I don't really use it much & my skin is almost completely back to normal...with few pimples that are easier to cover.
Hope that helps a bit... -

Re: Developing acne because of pregnancy
Thu, September 27, 2007 - 6:01 AMI've been using a daily microdermabrasion cleanser from Philosophy. I started using it before getting pregnant, and I have not had a big problem with acne during my pregnancy (I'm now 6 months). -

Re: Developing acne because of pregnancy
Thu, September 27, 2007 - 9:35 AMIs that the The Microdelivery cleanser?? I was looking at their facial peels too, do you think those would be too harsh for your skin while you're pregnant?? -

Re: Developing acne because of pregnancy
Thu, September 27, 2007 - 9:41 AMYes. I haven't ventured into the peels while pregnant - I'm assuming the cleanser I've been using is safe. Hope so!! :-)
